Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe
The Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe was built in 1844 by Doņa Maria Casilda de Lobo. It originally sat on a
2,300 acre land grant. Title passed to William Workman in 1851 when Doņa Lobo was unable to repay a
loan. In 1852 Workman deeded to the property to F.P.F. Temple and Juan Matias Sanchez (who took
possession of the adobe) for $1.00 each.
Today the adobe is a museum.
