Designed by Paul B. Clayton. Johnie's Broiler opened back in 1958 as Harvey's Broiler. It was designed in the 50's drive-in restaurant style with lighted boomerang canopy and flamboyant signage visible to cars traveling on the busy thoroughfare of Firestone Boulevard.

A true Southern California car culture landmark, Johnie's was a favorite cruising destination, often clocking 5,000 classic cars per weekend during its heyday. Currently leased to a used car tenant. "Speedee" McDonald's  Est. 1953   National Register

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this is the World's Oldest Operating McDonalds. Tourists can always be seen posing near the golden arches or 60 foot tall 'Speedee the Chef' neon sign. The Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee waged a huge preservation battle after the McDonalds Corporation closed this landmark location following the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Northern terminus of Figueroa Street. Noted by Spanish explorers, its distinguishing feature is the figure of an eagle in flight, a natural formation. Visible from the 134 freeway. Declared: 11/16/62

L.A. Historic Cultural Monument 134
A complex of buildings designed by Robert V Derrah in 1937. The central building is in the form of a ship, while the surrounding structures are in a variety of European styles. It was one of the most prominent "shopping centers" of the 1930's. Declared: 12/4/74

Sid Grauman's second theatre in Hollywood opened on May 18, 1927 with Cecil B. DeMille's film "King of Kings." Designed by Meyer & Holler and oriental in its colorful decor. Its forecourt, where movie star hand and footprints are preserved in cement, is a top tourist attraction. Declared: 6/5/68

Built in 1926 from a design by architect H. B. Traver. This Spanish Colonial Revival structure is associated with the growth of the film industry and was built by investors Douglas Fairbanks, Marcut Lowe, Louis B. Mayer and Mary Pickford. Three of the nation's major railroads, Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and Union Pacific, pooled their resources in 1933 and proceeded with the construction of the Station. For even the most sophisticated traveler, the Los Angeles Union Station Terminal, typically Californian in aspect, is likely to evoke some of the excitement and nostalgia of days gone by.
